How do I clean my climbing rope?
Despite your best efforts to keep it clean, your climbing rope will get dirty. When you notice that your hands or protective gloves are getting blackened easily while handling your rope, it's time to clean it. Doing so will keep your rope in good condition and extend its life.
Instructions for cleaning climbing ropes
IMPORTANT: Do not put the rope in the washing machine, it will twist the rope into a ball, it is recommended to wash it by hand.
Items to prepare.
1. Sink or vat
2. Warm water (below 30°C)
3. Walking the Sky Rope Cleaning Brush
4. Neutral detergent (optional)
5. Gloves (optional)
Step 1.
Fill the sink with warm water (below 30°C, no boiling water).
Step 2.
Place the rope loosely into the pool so that the rope is completely submerged in the water and soak for 5-10 minutes.
Step 3.
You can clean your rope directly with water, but if your rope is particularly dirty, it is recommended to add a moderate amount of neutral cleaner. Never use non-neutral cleaners, which can damage the rope fibers.
Step 4.
Turn your rope as a whole several times and gently rub it. Then start the rope at one end and clean the surface of the rope with a rope cleaning brush (you can also visually inspect the rope for damage).
Step 5.
Drain the water, then refill the sink with clean water to rinse the rope. Repeat until the water is clean.
Step 6.
After cleaning, place the rope on a towel or shower curtain rod and dry the rope naturally in a light and ventilated environment. Do not leave the rope in direct sunlight and make sure the rope is completely dry before storing.
