How to use the fire safety rope
How to use a fire safety rope? Today I'm going to share with you some useful tips on using a fire safety rope.
The fire safety rope is made of high-strength fire retardant fibers that provide excellent strength and resistance to breakage. The outer layer is woven with chemical fiber material to ensure the rope is strong and durable, and not easy to fall off or lint. In addition, the surface of the fire safety rope is added with flame retardant so that it is not easy to burn in high temperature condition and possesses the characteristics of fire resistance and high temperature resistance.
Fire safety rope is an important tool in fire escape, especially widely used in high-rise buildings. When a fire occurs, if we cannot find other escape routes, we can use the fire safety rope to escape quickly through the window.
Let's compare the difference between fire safety ropes and climbing ropes:
- Uses: Fire safety rope is mainly used for fire escape, which can slowly land trapped people from high-rise buildings to the ground. And mountaineering rope is used for self-protection, auxiliary knot protection, crossing rivers and bridges, material transportation and other mountaineering activities.
- Performance: The obvious difference is that the two have different performance in use. Fire safety ropes are static ropes with no elasticity. While the climbing rope belongs to the dynamic rope, has a certain degree of elasticity, can absorb the impact of the fall, to protect the body safety. When falling from a height of more than 3 meters, the fire safety rope will cause damage to the body.
Another difference is that fire safety ropes are resistant to burns and high temperatures, whereas mountaineering ropes are not. Fire safety ropes are a combination of a jogger and a harness that can safely, easily and quickly lower an escapee to the ground and can be reused many times.
Since fire safety ropes are usually used for high-rise escapes and pose a risk to the escapee, it is important to learn the proper way to use them. Below are the steps for using a fire safety rope:
- Step 1: Start by finding a sturdy fixture and tie the rope in a secure knot to the fixture, such as a post, railing or window frame. It is critical to make sure that the fixture is secure and reliable.
- Step 2: Fasten the harness and attach it to the figure of 8 loop and the lanyard. Thread the rope cord through the large loop and around the small loop, open the hook door of the main lock and hook the small loop of the 8-ring into the main lock.
- Step 3: After confirming that all connections are secure, throw the safety rope out the window and descend along the wall.
If you live below the third floor, when there are no fire safety ropes available, you may want to consider using items around you to knot into a makeshift rope for escape. However, please try to choose stronger items such as bed sheets rather than clothing. If time permits, it is a good idea to wet the sheets to increase the carrying capacity of the rope.
We hope that the above information on using fire safety ropes has been helpful to you! Remember to stay calm when faced with a fire escape and to follow the proper steps and safety precautions in practice. Safety first!
